FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Fashion Week’s First Sustainable Swimwear Show Launches World’s First Compostable Swimsuit

Haute Natured showcases the latest eco-friendly swimwear from top designers during Miami Fashion Week.

July 20, 2010 (Miami, FL)
  – Over 1,100 of Miami’s eco-fashion-elite gathered poolside at the Setai Hotel on Friday, July 15th for Haute Natured—the first-ever sustainable swimwear show during Fashion Week Miami Swim.  Haute Natured, presented by Mogul Events and ecosystM, featured a “walk-on-water” runway that showcased the latest eco-friendly swimwear collections from Eco Swim, Linda Loudermilk, Meadow and MAE Couture—all to raise environmental awareness and benefit the Seakeeper’s Society for marine research and ocean conservation.

“Our mission is to use the runway as a platform to raise awareness about environmental issues and sustainable design,” says Ryan Hattaway, Haute Natured creator and President of Mogul Events.  “Where products are created and produced with consideration to the environmental and social impact it may have throughout its life span.”

Other Fashion Week firsts included Luxury Eco™ designer Linda Loudermilk revealing the world’s first compostable bathing suit on the Haute Natured runway, made out of plant starch, which according to Loudermilk, will decompose completely within 180 days under soil.  “The importance of the compostable swim suits that we put down the runway in Miami at “Haute Natured” is that this launched  the beginning of an ERA. Not only can we produce sex appeal from compostable materials but also classic suits in all sizes in affordable volume with Luxury Eco™ style,” says Loudermilk.     The group of designers also featured sustainable swimwear designs made from wood pulp, hemp and bamboo, as well as from recycled plastic bottles, upcycled factory scraps of cotton and nylon and repurposed material such as military parachutes.

Haute Natured event highlights included celebrity green-carpet arrivals, electric car displays by Tesla Motors, biodegradable umbrellas by Brelli, live entertainment and four formal runway shows.  Notable guests present were Dean Klevan, President of the Seakeeper’s Society; Dean Pemberton, President of Quintessentially Americas; Kelly Saks, Miss Cuba; and Nicole Kelley, Miss Earth Florida 2011.

Guests also enjoyed passed hors d’oeuvres and a complimentary cocktail reception.  Sponsors included ecosystM, Eco Swim, Seakeeper’s Society, Tesla Motors, Luxury Eco by Linda Loudermilk, Jacoby Group, Quintessentially Driven, Meadow, MAE Couture, Aveda Institute of South Florida and Brelli.  Haute Natured celebrated Miami as the first city on its annual tour, with future events planned for LA and New York.
